For those who haven't heard, February 12th was a huge day for the Minuteman Band. Chancellor Thomas Cole announced the campus will contribute $4.5 million to the effort. Minuteman Band leads Holyoke St. Patrick's Parade March 30
For the first time in more than 25 years that the Minuteman Band has participated in the Holyoke St. Patrick's Parade--the 2nd largest St. Patrick's Parade in the US. The band led the first division (sponsored by Big Y Supermarkets), along with representatives from fire, police and other public safety groups. In addition to selections from the 2007 season, the band performed "The Notre Dame Victory March," which turns 100 years old this year, and was written by two Holyoke natives. The parade was broadcast locally on WGBY-57.

Dual announcements in Amherst, MA and Newark, DE last week revealed plans for the Minuteman and Fightin' Blue Hen bands to travel to Ireland for a New Year's concert tour Dec. 2009 - Jan. 2010. Mark your calendars, travel packages will be made available to alumni, parents and friends. Updates available at www.ummbalumni.org/ireland.
1st Annual Halftime Club Classic
Join alumni, parents and friends in this first edition of a new Minuteman Band tradition... The Halftime Club Classic. A 4-man golf scramble, this tournament will be held May 30th at the Brookline Golf Club. Details will be available at www.ummbalumni.org as they develop.
